In the first 50 years, the name and owners changed six times! In 1854, Franklin Stevens and Franklin S. Randall built a stone building who then sold the building and deed in 1856 to I. H. Nash who started Tinsmith Shop and Hardware.
Later that year, Nash built the brick building and named the business, I . H. Nash Hardware. Then, 27 years later, it was known as Sturges and Alderson, to which was later sold to the corporation, Pioneer Hardware.
Mckee and Carr leased the business from Pioneer Hardware in 1905, and Placerville Hardware was formed in 1907.
George Fausel purchased the store in 1952 and has been in his family’s name for the past three generations. Albert Fausel is now the current owner.
